This home, featuring an amazing green roof, is a result of a collaboration between Japanese architectural firm ICADA and Vietnamese group Vo Trong Nghia.

Nha Trang Vietnam House

The home is being surrounded by beautiful landscapes, mountains and a neighbouring sea. And to make the most of their environment the homeowners thought about having a garden on their rooftop.

However, local building regulations require 50% of the roof to be sloped and coloured in gray or orange. The solution? A somewhat tiered roof of alternating garden rows and tiled roofs.

The home includes a void, three patios and large windows in its design to maximise ventilation and lighting.

Spaces such as the bathroom, storage and circulation spaces were placed under the green roofs where the ceiling heights are lower due to deep soil provisions for the plants. These varied ceiling heights add to the contemporary ambiance of the home.

Take a tour of this unusual home now by viewing our gallery below and don’t forget to tell us what you think!
