When we did a recent feature on modular and prefabricated housing, member Lynn Dufour commented:  “Pre-fabs have come a LONG way since I was part of the crew building em for Continental Homes back in the early 80’s”.  Have our attitudes and views come a long way too? A modular home offers many benefits but perhaps the most important are locked down costs.  MA Modular say it well by stating what is NOT in their price:

  • The property
  • The cost to bring sewer, water or electric to the property, if it isn’t there already
  • Decks, driveways, landscaping, fencing
  • Some green options such as solar arrays, tankless hot water heaters, rain water harvesting

The home featured here further debunks the ‘it’s just a trailer home by another name’ theory.  These are solid, high quality homes that have the potential to be better constructed than homes built on-site. All this particular home needs externally to make it ‘homely’ is a few shrubs and simple landscaping to soften the lines.  Internally, it shines.
